Oly
Just got back onto the web after a crazy weekend helping with the efforts in Cockermouth. I've been in a good number of major floods, and the velocities involved in areas of this one has literally torn out a big chunk of the town. They aren't Boscastle velocities, but that's what is so unexpected about it...it doesn't have the steep short catchment that Boscastle has...it has the attenuative effects of the lakes. Still trying to get my head round it really... Seems like an age ago that I was watching Mr Norris work his magic...but it was only last Thursday!
