Using a .223 mod on a .17HMR?

Hi

If this is a lame question, feel free to shoot me down

I currently have a Stalon X mod on my .223 centrefire. I am likely to trade the .223 in for a .17 HMR rimfire. Should I/could I transfer the mod to the .17HMR, assuming the thread is the same, or would I be better to get a new moderator specifically for the .17HMR?

caliber specific will be quieter  you but if it works and you are happy you will save some money using your 223 mod if the threads match
