gareth
I've been going through some older threads on here and have read a few which have mentioned bedding scope bases. Is this something that many of you practice and should I think about doing it to my Leupold weaver bases (Leupold PRW rings on a Rem 700) ? Any further opinions and perhaps a tutorial! would be much appreciated, ATB, Gareth.
ejg223
Why not, I also sometimes bed the scope in the rings. Apply the clear shoe wax or release agent to the action, threads in the action and screws. If one doesn't mind bedding material on the bases don't wax bases, otherwise wax. Add a small dab of devcon or steel epoxy onto bases, straighten and screw on. The epoxy should come out of all sides. Let half set and remove excess with a scalpel or small flat screw driver. I mostly take one screw out at a time, check if epoxy drooled into the action and apply a bit of thread lock and tighten. Thread lock just because most of these screws are of such bad quality that one can't apply good torque anyway. Slow cure epoxy will mostly result in a better job. edi
gareth
Thanks Edi, doesn't sound like too much of a drama so I think I'll have a go. Cheers, Gareth.
