Ar15 magazines

My SGC speedmaster( 223)  is away getting a new barrel fitted. My plan is to use 77 grain smk bullets. Having looked at my magazines ( PMAGX30) ,The 77grain should fit in. My question is, would other brand's of magazines have more internal room to allow my to make the col a bit longer?

I have a few metal mags but they old and do not run smoothly. I much prefer plastic mags.

Probably not.

The SMK/TMK are designed to be seated at mag length 2.25/2.26"

They'll shoot fine at those COAL

I did not think there would be different internal mag sizes , but thought I would ask as others have far more experience with this.

I am sure the h&k metal mags have longer coal available but not any myself to measure. 

 

I know loads of people shooting the 77gr smk from ARs in magpul seated at 2.25  with great accuracy aonyou shouldn't have an issue either way

Thanks for the above. My quick look at my magazines yesterday, it looks like it would be about 2.250 or just under that.

I made up some dummy rounds today and with the 77 grain smk bullets, I can get a oal of 2.260, to fit in the plastic mags.JUST.

Once I get the rifle back ,I might seat them a few thou deeper to ensure clearance.
