I dont get tears and have smooth threads on the work I do. I use a manual lathe. I thread at 190 RPM and get along just fine in both metric and imperial There are many ways to do the same job, you all may be right and have strong opinions - doesnt necessarily mean yours is correct.... I do have a small workshop behind my house with a lathe a mill drill presses etc. But I am strictly an amateur. I have thoroughly enjoyed reading this and the chambering a barrel thread.
