Gun cabinet in boiler cupboard or hot water tank cupboard.

Guys,

 

I'm moving house and am trying to figure out where my cabinet will go when i move house.

 

Currently I have a choice of the boiler cupboard (oil central heating) or the water tank cupboard.

 

Both have brick walls.

 

Are either of these likely to cause any problems to the guns, optics or moderators?

I put my cabinets in a place that hot water pipes run under which keeps things warm.

 

I'm not sure on the effects of getting rifles and optics 'hot' which both your options seem to suggest will happen.

 

Certainly be death to a wood stock, what it does to lubes etc. over a long periods?? Optics should be OK but be carful of thermal shock, taking a hot scope out into a cold night might be too much of a change - but this is just a gut feeling, nothing factual to back it up.

Depends how hot they get, nicely warm is ideal, less chance of condensation and a stable temperature. I keep mine in a cupboard next to the HW tank, its nice and warm, I don't have any problems.
