Anschutz Scope Rings

Recommended Posts

I have a Barnard P action with an Anschutz dovetail cut in to it that I use for target shooting with RPA tracker sight and a sling etc and would like to mount a scope to it occasionally to use as a F/TR type rifle.

I don’t want to fit a picatinny rail to the rifle as I will have to keep removing it to fit the RPA sight back on.

Does anyone know of (preferably) a UK based company that make 34mm scope rings that will fit an Anschutz rail and with a 20 or 30 moa angle built in. I know Tier One make the Unimount with a 30 MOA built in but not for an Anschutz rail. The scope I have only has 60 MOA total elevation and I need at least 30/35 MOA to reach 1000 yards according to my TR shooting data.

@nd,

Not sure about a rail with some Moa in it, but you could fit an 'Weaver' adapter. http://www.optics-trade.eu/en/mounts/bases/era-tac-picatinny-rail-anschutz-1780.html

And add some of the Burris offset insert rings to gain your MOA? http://www.opticsplanet.com/burris-signature-pos-align-offset-insert-kits-individual-inserts.html

But this just a thought as I'm fully familiar with your action and set up?

Hi Terry

i can get a Barnard rail with a pre set MOA but i am trying to get away from having to remove the scope then the rail every time i have to put the RPA sight back on.

I looked at the Burris ring idea but don't think they will fit a 34mm scope tube.

I looked at these but would rather they were fixed or one piece; http://www.gunmart.net/accessories_review/sportsmatch_uk_atp65_fully_adjustable_two-piece_scope_mounts

again i don't think they go up to 34mm

@nd,

Burris now manufacture XTR Signature rings for 34mm scopes with off set inserts to give you additional MOA. They seem only to be available in Picatinny or Weaver form but you may be able to use the smaller two piece Weaver bases that Weaver, Warne and others make. I'm sure they don't make them to suit a Barnard P but there are charts which give the diameters of the various numbered Weaver bases and you might be able to find a set which corresponds with the Barnard action diameter or close enough not to matter. Whether you have to remove the rear base when you want to fit the Tracker depends of course on the location of the rear set of mount holes and how far forward you position the sight.

Richard.
