sean223
Hi all. Am loading for 223 Remington and I've had a couple of peirced primers. Am loading 77gr TMK with 24gr RL15 and cci400 primers in Lapua brass. Am going to change to cci450 magnums as I couldn't get any BR primers. Will the same load be ok or will I have to drop .1 or .2gr? Am changing because am thinking i need a thicker cupped primer for the heavier bullets. Cheers. Bianchi
Hi, Have you read Laurie's comments regarding this? http://ukvarminting.com/forums/topic/31672-magnum-primers-in-small-cases-222223/?p=256105 http://ukvarminting.com/forums/topic/31672-magnum-primers-in-small-cases-222223/?p=256826 Suggest that the required drop will be significantly more than .2 grn when transferring to CCI 450 magnum primers in a small volume case such as a .223. A reduced starting load of 22 grn may be more prudent. Had a similar experience when moving from CCI 400 to BR-4s with 77 SMKs in a .223 and it cost me a box of Lapua cases. Mattnall
24gn RL15 is a fairly light load generally for the .223 and 77s so you shouldn't have any problem. Recheck zero afterwards to see if it has made much if any difference.
