Swarovski1
This, accuracy/precision seems to be a matter of opinion or line of thought, precise is say exact, accuracy is precision, precision is accuracy, its 6 of 1 and half a dozen of the other. gbal
Some useful and informed commentary. BD: bright kid! Also the essential reply to your intriguing two 2" groups (1000 rounds and 2 rounds)-the first is a much bigger and therfore better sample,so we could place more confidence in it. Your 'starter for ten' is well worth a go at the bonus points-Litz has 295 more pages to expand on his basics. What you say is pretty much what I sometimes suggest as a guide here to long range live quarry shooting-if the wind reading probable error exceeds the vital zone, the shot is already iffy, and when you add in the raft of very high probability dispersion factors it's even more so.Precision equipment factors and Accuracy/consistency factors must combine. The principal is sound, and -I hope-non ccontroversial. When we all agree, the probability is that one of us is right. MrC- indeed-this is the William Tell scenario. Precision of the equipment is not the issue (though it needs to be minute of apple). The 'psychological' pressure on the shooter's nerve is heightened-a lot-because of the consequences of a miss- the issue is it's effect on his accuracy, for a one off shot. ds,David agreed,of course.Accuracy and Precision as concepts are all indeed relative to purpose-pretty much the size of the target,in practical terms, and that varies. The whole shooting system has to be 'fit for purpose'-Litz hopes to show the various components can be analysed with some kind of measure of their contribution (% hits) including in different 'confidence' scenarios-some rifle precision ones, some shooter accuracy ones. ....now what does p 2 offer..... :-) gbal
