If like you say you are new to nv, then defo go digi, or work up through the ranks( do your homework) as tube kit needs far more care when in use. If you do take the plunge (gen3) as said go and look at the unit and test it night, most new gen3 kit can handle a certain amount of light be it car,street, or ir or even daylight, the tube will shut itself down to protect it. Most tubed guys start at gen1 and work up so they already have the grounding.
