gbal
"another 222"....why not? The 222 was once THE Bench Rest cartridge-because of course it was exceptionally accurate-thoughit lost that crown to the 6PPC. THe rifle that made the 222rem's reputation in US was the lovely little Sako A! actioned rifle-just a dinky action for this supr cartridge.Something for the classic conoesseur's collection,if you can find a decent one. There are others,of course, but few quite as well matched action/cartridge/whole rifle.I am sure many Tikkas are fine rifles, and the older ones may well be affordable. Most european makers did good and delux grades..Anschutz included. And of course its still being made, and has an appeal that 223 may lack for some....it won't be available with fast twist etc etc-just a classic, very accurate light rifle, made right from the factory. The old BRNO Fox model maybe lacked the precision of the Sako, but was carbine size, or shortenable withou guilt, detachable box mag,and optional set trigger-a good cab foxing spec. My Sako was an old A1 action, short mid heavy barrel, still shot in the mid twos-pure delight, what a carryable rifle should be.It needed no,repeat,no 'upgrades'-unless you happen to be medically sensitive to good steel, wood, and classic form, design, excellent function. Oh,it was threaded, for minimal recoil/noise, if desired. gbal
