Thread protector for AI AXMC barrel thread

Does anyone do a thread protector that screw onto the end of the barrel an AI AXMC barrel, the end that goes into the action.

Suggest you make a protective cover from a bike tube.

 

Its what I use for my spare barrels, just fold over the end and tape together.

I'd prefer to have a proper metal screw on protector.

 

Do you put the whole barrel in the tube ?

Id prefer a proper metal thread protector with a closed cap too, but the reality is it would be a pain to make and inner tube rubber works very well.

 

No I have the barrel in a mesh "net" and the barrel thread (chamber end) is enclosed in a sleeve with folded over and taped end made of inner tube to protect while in storage.

 

I also put a patch soaked in VP90 in the chamber.

There are companies out there that make polymer thread protectors for precision machined parts (for use when shipping). Something like that would work a treat but not sure of general availability outside of the industry. I just put a couple of layers of bubble wrap on mine but I like Ronin's idea of using a bike inner tube - I have a couple handy so that's the way I'll go in future.
