Toby
As an example, if I was to buy a Rem 700 VSSF and get the barrel shortened from 26" to 22" or 20" and screwcut 18x1 what would it look like and is it advisable`? Does anyone have any pics of their rifles that this has been done on? Thanks Toby
jcampbellsmith
Toby You can do it, but if you shorten it so far that you are into the fluting, it will be very hard to sell. If you are confident you won't ever want to sell it, then go for it. Regards JCS
srvet
If you are going to use it with a mod all the time you wouldn't see the end of the fluting
onehole
Yeah it will probably not look quite right leaving the fluting sort of exposed and not sure how it could be refashioned but with the muzzle end stuffed into a moderator that should look just fine,,,Northstar or recessed compact for example.Maybe a good smith could make you a thread protector or muzzle brake closely matched to barrel OD and vapour/bead blast to match the VSSF finish? I like 22" . better than less but that's just me,,,,what cal?,,,,,,,O
Toby
I was thinking 20" or 22" with a jet z. As people have said it would be used with moderator all the time. 223 Rem. I need a .378 bolt face so I can rebarrel to 17 Rem in the future.
