Melonite coating

I looked in to it but it seems in the UK it's very hard to get done on firearms as any heat treating company will need to be an Rfd etc. Pitty as it seems that having your barrel done massively increases barrel life!

I have a Melonited BAT action that is smooth running, very clean looking and to date unblemished after a few exposures to weather.

I thought the finish on Glock pistols was the same process under a different name?

I was told about again by a chap on another US site. He was using a .260 to 1000y and said it was shooting better than ever after 1000+ shots. He said it had been melonite coated and this is why he thought it shot so well. I'd never heard of it before but wondered if it was perhaps a coating that was popular but is no longer used or is it a new technology that may become common?
