gbal
Hmmm....don't rush it..some issues arise:how is this really different from an in club for elitists?(well,it won't be available to newbies/beginners etc...or will it: What are the criteria for membership of this elite ( a fully validated series of 'ethical' long shots on vermin...?? validated by whom....other elite varminters.....won't do Is it divisive....well,it precludes free and open discusson... Do we have a plethora of sub divisions with entrance requirements....some other activities must potentially bring disapproval from some anti this/that/other (noise/lead/macho...whatever). Bloody corpses might be considered too;seen one you've seen em all-but outsiders might not agree-it's in the forum guidlines, but a bit coy;of course what 'goes' on the net-largely uncensored- should not be the judge of what this forum wishes. There are no doubt other issues, but most of the above are of principle, not just discuss/not ones like''why does someone need to talk about their prowess',and not do it in an appropriate competition etc -I'm trying to exclude those kind from forum principles, since they are not 'forum disrepute/ethical issues"-that need monitoring per se. Good luck with your deliberations.Whatever is decided, members can revert to private correspondence-at any distance! :-) Gbal
1967spud
As Gbal says its may be a none starter for the above reasons. There is nobody on here better or greater than anybody else , we are all shooters what ever discipline.

Good luck with your deliberations.Whatever is decided, members can revert to private correspondence-at any distance! :-) Gbal George nails it. There's little to add. 'Prowess' threads that reduce animals to convenient targetry inevitably create internet trouble (because, by their very nature, they are controversial). The threads themselves seem to add little beyond a succession of posts offering no more than variations on 'nice one pal', which is pretty tedious to read, interspersed with comment from disapprovers who want living creatures treated with more respect. Thus, UKV either sets a precedent or it doesn't. Our principles cannot differ according to which section a post happens to be in; a 700 yard fox cannot be unethical in one section, but boasted about in another. So the answer is 'no' to a new section.

brown dog
A perfectly timed example: whats the difference between vermin and a deer, are you saying one deserves more respect than another As I was saying; as a topic, long range non-combat shots at living things is immediately controversial. Our answer to the thread idea again, and topic closed: George nails it. There's little to add. 'Prowess' threads that reduce animals to convenient targetry inevitably create internet trouble (because, by their very nature, they are controversial).
