Zaitsev
Considering which thread to go on a 9.3 barrel. 15x1 is advocated by ASE UTRA but the residual barrel seems quite thin under the relief cut. Has anyone threaded their 9.3 and if so which thread?CheersG
MJR
Hi G. Is the barrel big enough to take 18x1? Northstars are available with that thread.
Zaitsev
It's a medium sporter so won't take an 18. The largest would be a 16. Think I may have come up with an alternative though. 5/8x18 spigoted and mount the front iron sight on the thread protector. Better supported all round. Bushdog
If you do it, I'd love to see pics of the front sight on the thread protector - I think that's likely to be an elegant solution.
Ratwhiskers
"Elegant Solutions"....... Hm..... G, that sounds like adding Rough Cyder and something Slippery to the mix as well......
IanF
There is a special Hell - just for folks that moderate medium bore classics!
Zaitsev
Oh bugger, I'm in it then! To be fair I reckon that the solution has turned out nicely. Will post a thread (pun not intended..) once it's all done. Rgds G
Bushdog
Tend to agree with IanF about those that moderate classic mid-bores (being holier-than-thou now, with an un-moderated .375 H&H BRNO!!). Not sure about the cider and slipperiness analogy - I have always thought putting a front sight on a thread protector would be a good way of maintaining use of irons for close and moving targets on any moderated rifle - the loss of iron-sight capability is one of the evils of a moderated rifle, I think. OK, elegant is probably (certainly??) the wrong word, but a solution, none-the-less.
Ratwhiskers
Do not worry dear readers.....
