hunter87
Emailed my local today to find out what powder they could get in for me i wanted some ramshot TAC but but they wouldn't order it in and suggested that they would be willing to order me in a Swiss powder TR 140. At 1 Kg tubs for £57 per Kg.he said It is "virtually the same a Vihtavouri N140 but better and considerably cheaper". What's your opinions on this powder I will be using it in my .308 with 169gr bullet Thanks Forgot to mention because its local I wouldn't need to pay RFD fees so is this a good deal? dannywayoflife
Tr140 is a good powder. It's slightly slower than N140 she I was working up loads in my 223 I used N140 load data. It's good stuff mate and cheap
Brillo
Laurie wrote a thorough review of TR 140 in one of last year's Target Shooter online magazine. It is similar to, but I would not say it is virtually the same as Viht N140. It would be well worth your while going through back issues of the TS magazine and reading that review. For what it's worth I found through experimentation that multiplying a given N140 load by a factor of 1.040724 gave very similar MVs, very, very close to the results reported by Laurie. MrCetrizine
I tried a tub of TR140 and found it burned really dirty compared to N140. It left unburned powder in my mod and filthed up the barrel with carbon.
