Exeter lad
Looking to buy a Remington 700 and was wondering if I bought a mcmillan stock.. Say an a3-5 will it need to be pillar bedded to fit my action?? Please help! Cheers Aaron
MJR
Some do, some don't and some stocks come with an integral bedding block but not sure if any Mcmilan stocks do. Some people buy an inletted stock and shoot it first to see how it groups. If you plan on leaving it fairly standard this may be all that's needed, if you're looking for the best and repeatable accuracy then it will probably be better bedded - properly and by someone who knows what they are doing. Many excellent smiths on here that could do it for you.
DaveT
Check with someone like Baldie but I have several rifles on A5s and they have all been fully bedded which , as far as I understand it, means both pillar bedded and Devon bedded. Jagged 77
A McMillan or Manners will need bedding, alternatively you can buy a Manners with an integrated mini chassis to bolt your action straight into.

gaz6br
If it shoots leave it alone, my 223 ackley is in a McMillan stock and shoots fine, my 6br as well is fine, but I have had rifles in the past bedded because they needed it.
