jcampbellsmith
Rick I'm not sure, your data is very hard to read. I like tables and pictures. 40gns 2388 fps .830" 40.5gns 2438 fps .321" 41gns 2473 fps 1.357" 41.5gns 2530 fps .160" Is .160 inches correct? 42gns 2548 fps 1.076" 42.5gns 2609 fps .488" 43gns 2644 fps .543" 43.5gns 2661 fps .757" 44gns 2684 fps .390" 44.5gns 2741 fps 1.020" 45gns 2772 fps .586" 45.5gns 2807 fps .632" How many shots per group? What range? Why are the powder increments so big? Thanks JCS
The_Dogge
In analysing this data you are looking for a pattern, aiming for a wide area of small groups, not just the smallest group, you wont find a pattern in a jumble of numbers like that. First step is to put in in a spreadsheet and plot the group size with charge on a graph, I've just done that, though I can't post the result it is easy to repeat, I'd be looking between 42.5 and 43, the increments are a bit big to draw good conclusions from, but that looks a good area to refine to me. Velocity variation with charge is nicely linear.
ricky5042
Hi soz JCS it is as you've done it il do a better job next time 3 shot groups to save me some pennies and distance is 50m which is my local club and 2 mins down the road .160" is correct, centre to centre, I do 1/2 grain increments to start with and then il go .2 either side of the 2 best groups and see if that improves the group size All iv done in the last couple of months is load test because I cant get the same powder or bullet heads which is why iv opted for the TR140 as its a bit more available because it comes from Europe so now all im doing is sticking to the TR140 and trying some 168gn A-max and some more 155gn lapuas once the A-max are all gone.
