pwinnall
Hello, The paint has worn on my stainless barrel and it needs painting. Is duracoat worth doing or any other paint I could do? Thanks Phil
Dustyman
http://www.caswelleurope.co.uk/Paints_Coatings/Duracoat/duracoat_firearm_finishes1.htm This might help for touch up but for complete works I would have to leave that to the experts on here , cheers
baldie
Duracoat , or cerakote for that matter are only as good as the preparation that precedes them. If you apply either over an unprepared surface, neither will last long. The parts need to be aluminium oxide blasted [ with the correct grade ] then the paint applied and baked on. Both are two pack finishes, Cerakote MUST be baked on, Duracoat will air dry and chemically harden in time, but its much more durable when baked on. Despite now being sold by all and sundry, you will not get the best results as DIY. Single pack versions of either wear even less well.
