Chris-NZ
One for the gunsmiths. I've got a fully trued 40XB and a basic BR stock for it. Was planning to do a 6BR on it, largely as a maggie gun, but am now pondering a 6x47 for getting a bit further out in wind. Has anyone successfully built a 6x47 on this action, ie avoided the punctured primer issue from too much pin clearance. I don't want to go to the trouble of building one, only to suffer that indignity. thanks Chris-NZ

Chris-NZ
Sounds like you guys haven't seen a std one in this cal then? I'll be out at my gunsmith's place next week to pick up the .280 AI he's chambering so will take it along the XB and he can check the pin clearance. thanks Chris
dasherman
I ran a 6.5x47 barrel on a 40XB for many years with a standard pin and no problems using CCI BR primers.
Chris-NZ
Thanks Neil, some reassurance. Dave- just re-reading, can you do, as it were, over-size pins to bridge the excessive clearance? Chris
baldie
Yes Chris. Send the old one and some dimensions for the new one, and i,ll sort it .
Chris-NZ
Really appreciate the offer Dave. I'll see what Ian finds clearance-wise and go from there
