Whats the best thing to use in your gun cabinet for protecting you rifles against moisture, I use a light coating of oil on my rifles when storing them for a while but still see some moisture from time to time building up

hi tony,

i've used napier VP90 patches before which help,

however my gunsafe is in the loft and so is exposed to extremes of temperature. i ended up installing a piano heater in the safe which now helps to prevent any moisture (especialy during cold winter months)

cheers jock

used the 18'' model supplied by these guys

I use a 25 watt bulb fixed inside the corner of the cabinet with a mesh cover to avoid breakages. Obviously this will set up nice mild convection current and so creates a slight warmth and circulation of air. Naturally I don't put wet rifles back and so minimise additional moisture. I always use a coating of oil from a wipe of a rag and I see no rust using both these measures.
