tony
Whats the best thing to use in your gun cabinet for protecting you rifles against moisture, I use a light coating of oil on my rifles when storing them for a while but still see some moisture from time to time building up
22-250jock
hi tony, i've used napier VP90 patches before which help, however my gunsafe is in the loft and so is exposed to extremes of temperature. i ended up installing a piano heater in the safe which now helps to prevent any moisture (especialy during cold winter months) cheers jock used the 18'' model supplied by these guys http://www.fletcher-newman.co.uk/catalogue/heaters_humidifiers/index.html

Big C
I use a desiccant strip (silica gel) designed for shipping containers in mine. Does the job quite well but not sure if it's the cheapest option
Elwood
I found these to be quite good. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Dry-Packs-Canister-Indicating-Silica-Chloride/dp/B003QZ6PZ0/ref=pd_sim_kh_6

eldon
I use a 25 watt bulb fixed inside the corner of the cabinet with a mesh cover to avoid breakages. Obviously this will set up nice mild convection current and so creates a slight warmth and circulation of air. Naturally I don't put wet rifles back and so minimise additional moisture. I always use a coating of oil from a wipe of a rag and I see no rust using both these measures.
