My first go at reloading and I think I may have the bug now.

Picture is a 4 shot group at 100yds.

Case - Winchester

Primer - CCI

Powder - 46.6 GR Varget

Bullet - Hornaday 168GR BTHP

Ogive - 2.245

Velocity - tba

I will be experimenting further with different bullets and powders.

Any help or pointers gratefully received.

Looking good.

However a word of caution. A 168gr bullet with 46.5 gr of Varget in either of my .308s would flatten primers and probably result in extractor imprint too.

Do you have any signs of excess pressure?

47g of varget is my my load undar a 168 amax it's a top load but not excessive with good brass life

Blimy mate, what velocity you getting? You must be crunching that powder.

Hodgdon site also say 46gr max For 168s and they are not as conservative as some. Maybe you just got one of those lucky chambers. They do seem to vary a lot.

As Tony says, always start low and work up!!!

Friend of mine had a rifle blow in his face recently so it does happen. Stay safe.

thanks Andy.

Rup, I have worked this up, but I also think it's near the limit although no major pressure signs and i will be sticking with this. According to Quickload the velocity is 2808, but I do not have a chrono to confirm. I will be trying some 155 gr also soon and will post the results.

I thought this initial grouping was your "first go" at reloading. I was, and am, sorely impressed with your accuracy!~Andrew

just as long as your aware of pressure signs and know when to stop,,,,

Pretty certain you are doing, but make sure youre full length sizing as well with the Tac 2...something that is a MUST with Blaser owners who reload.

Excellent grouping, the rifle shot very well when I had it, I see it continues to do so. :)
