matchking
What would be the best barrel length on a 6.5x47 for max velocity. I have a 34" blank which could be finished at 31" but would there be any advantage? Don't want to use a 30" tube if a 28" would do. Cheers Sean

Chris-NZ
Maybe your question Sean should be "At what barrel length is there minimal velocity gain exceeding this?". Weight is also a consideration. 34" will give you max of course. My 27" gives 2940 with a 123 Scenar with a very moderate load (38gr Varget) and I'm happy with that. If you want to chase the 6.5-284s in F-Class, well that's a very different story. End result will be shorter barrel and case life which is throwing away the virtues of the Lapua, other than accuracy Chris-NZ
rabbit fingers
I use 140s in a 30" and get 2850 pretty easily could get over 2900 if I pushed it but barrel life is a concern as Chris said.
