weejohn
Started shooting a few crows on sunday now the farmer is due to start lambing shortly. To my delight i managed my furthest crow and rabbit so far. The shot was 450 metres, wasnt much red mist due to the shot dropping an anch low. My last 3 shots also connected with .... 360 metre rabbit Then immediately afterwards 390 metre rabbit and to quickly finish off my last bullet i got a 280 metre crow, no pic of this as there wasnt much to see. I am delighted how the 6x47 lapua is shooting , even with the not so accurate load i am running .

silent-varminter
hey guys. Im just curious as to see how others see the A-max as a hunting bullet ? I would love to try the 75gn A-max through my .223 on rabbits and fox. Great shooting by the way mate and very nice set up. Craig
tony
silent-varminter, I can vouch for the 75gr A-max, its very accurate and devistating in my 22/250 Ack, rabbits dont survive the impact, not sure how they would perform in a 223, I would think that you would need a fast twist for them....Whats the twist rate of your barrel? Tony.

Tony. Hi Tony. Its a 1-9 twist, it shoots 69gn SMK perfectly at the mo, but was just considering something a little heavier and more accurate. craig
Guest richness
Amax expand like mad. End of. Give them a go and you'll see what i mean Beware the twist issues mentioned above, mind. They generally have a great BC, too. Good luck Rich

They generally have a great BC, too. Good luck Rich Ive did a bit of research and the 1-9 wist should stabalise the 75gn A-max. Ill buy a box 1st and try develop a round using varget before i buy them in bulk. Ive changed from viht n135 to varget, not had a chance to develop any rounds yet. Ive also changed from 55gn nosler BT to 60gn Hornady V-max, so im basically starting again. Ill put a thread up of my results soon for anyone interested. goldie
Have you tried 70 gr sierra blitz kings 41.5 gr varget that was my max load. (6x47 lap)
Bomag
I use the 52gr Amax in my .223, works well for range work and rabbits/foxes. Ive not had any movement once theyve hit home. Really nice looking rifle and nice shooting
Si-Snipe
Big Amax fan myself! I use 123 Amax in my 6.5x47. Hits like no other bullet with high BC as they tend to be LR hunting VLD's ballistic tipped hunting or match bullets and don't expand on small vermin. Amax expands like Vmax and kills cleanly to whatever range you can connect with centre rabbit or forwards. Magpies don't seem to like them either. baldie
Gents, Most folk are aware of what A-max can do. I dont need to remind you all of the problems earlier this year with the law and A-max. They nearly got reclassified. Think before you post please.
