Elwood
I need some new rings for a 30mm Nightforce 56mm objective lens, I'm looking at picatinny rings but I'm unsure if I need high rings or will a medium give me enough clearance ? Vermincinerator
Elwood, It all depends on the hight of your piccatinney base. If you go Brownells site and have a look at the above as well as tactical rings they will give you the ring and base hights in the product description. All you need to do then is to calculate the hight from the top of your barrel to the centre of the scope and choose the corresponding base and rings. As a guide, i had a Warne piccatinney base on my 243 AI to which i fitted Leupold MK4 rings, combined with a 50mm Obj. lens diameter Leuppy scope i had to use high rings. On another of my rifles i had a Dave Farrel semi-piccatinney base which was taller then the Warne thus i used medium hight rings with the same type scope. Ian. Elwood
Many thanks Ian, I'm glad I didn't take a punt on it and asked the question. Now to find out what piccatinney rail is going to used, once again thanks. Ian
