Toby
I know nothing at all about this caliber and not a lot more more about any caliber. What I have learnt though is that when you push any bullet hard and fast it wears the barrel more, especially if it is 250grains. You will probably feel it as well, recoil I would imagine would be stout
Chris-NZ
Yep, she'd shunt ya backwards.. It's not a hugely over-bore chambering and I can't see you firing 1000s of rounds so barrel life shouldn't be a consideration. Chris-NZ
Finman
In his book on American Hunting Rifles, Craig Boddington describes the .378 Weatherby and the .340 Weatherby as the most unpleasant rifles he ever shot, whilst Layne Simpson in his book 'Rifles and cartridges for large game' said that the one round that he had to fire to test these two is more than enough to convince him that he never ever wants to even touch one. Neither of the two doubted their performance but both acknowledged how unpleasant it was to shoot... I very much doubt that the .338-378 would be much different As they say: the decision is yours.... best wishes, Finman
