gun nut
For years I've levelled my scopes by various trial and error methods, but whilst looking for a tool to do it quicker i came upon this today. Thought it made sense and hope it works( the light through the scope and the plum line on the wall method) cause I just checked 3 of my rifles, one was spot on and the other 2 were off by between 6-12 degrees. 1 minute on your watch is 6 degrees, apparently canting a scope by that amount equates to missing by 55" at 1000yds??? Know better if it worked next time out.
kent
depends on the rig as to what will attich were. This is only for the initial set up though, then i take it out set the zero at 100 yds then take a board out as far as i can shoot a decent group certainly over 200 and up to say 400 depending on calibre and mark a totaly vertical line with a spirit level firing three groups at min, mid and max elevation all aimed for a centre mark will confirm (provided the wind isn't switching, you need a good nil wind day realy for this)
Gandy
I take a level on the rifle and a level on the scope and make sure they are all plumb and tighten everything up, a bit basic but works for me. I then shoot the box to make sure on a target.
