Mike6.5
I was after a good hunting round for Roe and Sika deer for the 308 as I found the 243 wasn’t settling the Sika deer with authority they were running 50 to 150 yards resulting in dog work. The plan was to shoot Nosler 150 BT’s but there was a great shortage of this bullet in the UK at the time of development so I was forced to try the Sierra Game Kings and im glad i did. These rounds hit hard and shot deer have dropped on the spot with deep and large wound cavities. Case - Winchester Primer - Fed 210Mag Powder - 46.2 Grains of Vhit N140 OAL to Ogive 2.210" - 0.037" off the lands in an Accuracy International 2650 fps out of a 20" Barrel This round shoots 1/2 MOA at 200 yards all day. Zeroing 2" High at 100 Yards gives me 250 yards Maximum point blank range on a 4" target. One of my Favourite Deer Stalking rounds in 308.

Although a 150gr at 2650 seems a bit pedestrian! (My crazy accurate stalking load for my AW used to launch 165 NBTs at 2720!). (I've also come to realise that not all ogive measurers are exactly the same diameter, so an OAL is the best way of describing a round length to someone using a different insert)
Mike6.5
Hi Brown Dog I fount 2 accuracy Nodes with this powder/bullet combo 46.2 and 47.1 the later load started to show signs of high pressure so I backed off and opted for the 46.2. I’m sure the 20” Barrel has some effect on fps might I be loosing about 120 – 150fps compared to a 24” The deer don’t know the difference when they are shot, if it was a fast or a slow round Good point on the OAL when sharing Loads. Cheers for the heads up!
tikkat3
The most accurate loads I have ever found always seem to be mild loads. Whenever I try to push the velocity the groups go to sh#t, is that normal ??? glad its not just me then ! i find exactly the same in 25-06 through a tikka t3 and .308 through a mauser with the exception of a 110 gn .308 load at 3170 fps all the others 75gn,100gn and 117 gn in .25 and 130,140 150 in the 308 are at the bottom end of the load range using 4895,h1000 and v130 ,i have tried loading faster but just get more open groups up to max ! Andrew
I recently bought two Howa rifles second hand to use as loaners: one a 270 and the other a 30-06. The 270 shot bugholes with Sierra GK 150's and 4350, right off the bat. Took the 30-06 out tonight with 165 grain Sierra GK's and 4350, and shot 3/4" right from the start. Game Kings are darned good bullets.~Andrew
