Recommended Posts

Hi Alan thanks for the reply. How can I alter the mag to be able to get them yo feed from it?

Thanks Danny

Dan.

Never did the conversion myself - but it looked reasonably easy.

somebody sent me details on how to do it , when I asked the question.

Maybe one of the more technically minded members could help B)

Do a web search. You take the guts from a .221 or such and replace them into the Hornet mag. A lot of bother! Try using it as a single shot if the 40 grain suit you. Another bullet with a better BC than the 35 grain is the Midway Dogtown 34 grain. It will fit in the magazine nicely. The 45 grain "Hornet" bullets available from Sierra/Speer have a very high BC and will work with out alteration as well.~Andrew

Rws TMS 46 grn will work needs no mag alterations and very much better BC. The exposed lead tip is actually cut / trimmed flat and square wich reduces the o/a length. Although i am still quite new to the calibre myself if you run the balistic comparisoms most of the 45's and the like are the better choice on downrange balistics

Hay Andrew thanks. So I would just need to replace the internals of a hornet mag with those of a 221fb?

Also what's the bc of the dog town bullets?

Thanks Danny

Nice thanks Andrew! Appreciate it

Your welcome. Also note that the "zero" is 175 yards. I sight in 1.5" high at 100 so that a prairiedog laying on his belly need only to be set atop the horizontal cross-hair to score a perfect hit. I was gratified to find that my dead-on hold is 175 yards, plus or minus. This verifies the BC calculations and the ballistic program nicely, I think.~Andrew

Niceone! I'll get me some dog towns then!

Andrew could I trouble you for a step by step run through of your reloading process and what kit you use as I'm about to start and want to get some Propper Gen info from a fellow hornet man.
