Seems this is what happens with a rough die body. I see nothing to worry me, perhaps a bit more lube? I use RCBS case lube and lube the full body.Inside neck lube with Redding system of mica loaded onto media.

Imo any attempt to use powder with eye being the sole means of knowing what it is a fools errand no offense. Use only factory powder containers. The factory ammo powder is bulk bought specs are unknown to the reloader . Years ago a friend had several lbs of powder that had been decanted for lack of a better word with handwritten slips to show what it was,i refused to use it and after deconstructing some of the handloads done by his family member seeing at least 4 types and charge weights I recommended he dispose of the decanted stuff and save the possible injury and death.

Most of my tools are RCBS dies too. Make sure you read the caution/intro to reloading in a good manual, perhaps a mentor who loads would be ok with hands on instruction. In my experience the hands on was valuable to me. If you were in my area Wyoming Usa I would be glad to help.

Your exactly right! The whole point to anneal is making brass less work hardened and last longer. I have managed 10 shots from Winchester brass in 22-250 loaded right to the max, they would go more if the primer pockets had not started to loosen.

Indeed I am, now if the mud dries up I may get some good shooting in, right now springish in Wyoming USA the weather is rather variable.

Shot placement is paramount, a 39 grn sierra would be my choice, with no worries about run offs.

What starts faster would be my choice, any would work as you note. I love the 6.5x55 as im traditional and shoot one now. I have no idea about brass availability in the UK but if no consideration my choice would be the 6.5x55, I seem to recall CIP data is higher pressure than Saami data for the 6.5x55, A modern action will handle higher pressures within reason.

get the barrel home.will the old brass chamber with no pressure? Should it not chamber resize in stages until it does.

Your using the magazine, load to suit that and if there is room you can seat out , if you cant, fit to mag be happy and shoot!

I use an Oheler 35P when doing work ups, always measured at muzzle at the distance my wires are. The range I use is 15 mins from home and when conditions are right ( no wind or zero value)I hop into my jeep and go test.

The 69tmk will go faster and should be great over CFE223. All depends on your needs and what you like.

never have I had any sierra bullet be a poor performer.

if it is tight no wiggles I would think no issues, I use a rockchucker and thousands of rounds in 15 years its tight. I would think many varibles would exist, brass trim, bullet used,  scales calibrated ect.

With a twist rate for the heavies I would never worry about the 53 grn in the same chamber should work fine. I would make sure my brass was trimmed and had good contact on the ogive.

I have never tried the small rifle primed brass, I do have mountains of large rifle, with cool damp being what I see as normal in the uk I would stay with large rifle for a more powerful ignition

My thought  would be fit to you and cost, my savage works well and very accurate.
