Decided to put my HIK Vulcan 15mm thermal spotter up for sale.
Unit was bought 1st week of January this year, so has over 2 years of warranty left.
Was bought initially with the thought that I would only be using it in woodland areas, but now helping a friend on more open land so I am needing to upgrade.
Comes with box plus everything that came with it.
Battery has never ran out on me yet and I've used it for more than 6 hours at a time.
Will include a battery bank with the sale if asking price is met should the 6hr battery life not be suffice
There is a small mark as pictured to the outer housing at the objective end.
NOW SOLD

ColinBR,
I’m also finding the purple box flat nose SK performs well, but was told in the NSRA shop SK are dropping this ammunition from production, some comment re easier to make the standard bullet ammunition ( which has also performed well)
Not sure on the validity of this statement at present, it’s only been in production for a while?
I haven't tried they're standard bullet, so can't comment on its performance.
Be a real shame if it does get dropped as my rifle really like it.

I'm finding great results out of the SK match (the purple flat nosed version) in my Annie MSR. Halved the group size that Eley match were shooting at 100.
I bought a brick of it to try and will stock up next time I get a chance.
I don't normally take pics of groups, but had this from about a month ago trying out the SK match at 100. Slight breeze left to right. Target circle is 15mm

Thanks Colin , I really like the feel and look of the super varmint,I wanted to keep it looking the same hense the subtle changes , barrel profile is the same but a bit longer and bead blasted so it matches the action , to be fair the only thing that look different to the eye is the bolt that’s it But it’s everything else apart from the action has been swapped out .
I have only ever had SAKO and Tikka rifles in all the years I have been shooting ( I did try a REM 700 but not for me ) all my rifles Colin get a hard life as there tools and get treated as such . .I do like your stock though , I see one at dolphin and nearly pulled the trigger on one but I do like my GRS as I can bolt all sorts of crap onto it when using NV and thermal … it’s practical.
My father inlaw has the GRS on his 243, and it does feel really nice in the hand.
I went with the PSE to keep the weight down a bit for stalking and crosses over when I get to the range too. Probably the best stock I've used.
I will be doing the same as yourself once I've shot this barrel out, and having it rebarrelled. I think I'll go with spiral fluting on the barrel and bolt when I get it done.

Do you load these long and single load, or do you have an aftermarket mag, that allows longer cartridge use?
I have one of these and am struggling a bit with SAAMI spec length, but can't load them much longer as they don't fit in a standard Tikka magazine.
Cheers. P
I do load these long yes. Again yes I use an AICS type magazine.
I have my varmint in a PSE Etac stock with Atlasworx bottom metal to take the magazine.

Looks good that mate.
Mine shoots the 77gr TMKs nicely too. Though mine is just a standard Varmint 223 in a PSE stock
To be honest it shoots anything from 50gr Barnes TTSX, 55gr sierra gamekings to the 77gr TMK's hole in hole so long as I do my part.
It was yourself that put me onto the 223 varmint/supervarmint

Thanks Roy
I ended up at 44gr and 0.030" off the lands. 3 rounds touching at 100 yards with zero pressure signs.
I could go faster, but it already being accurate its good enough for my stalking rifle.

Can anyone give me an idea on a start load for 6.5mm creedmoor using RS62 powder and a 120gr bullet please.
The quickload we have here doesn't have the creedmoor on it.
Thanks in advance -
Here's mine.
First is a Tikka T3x Varmint in 1 of Edj's PSE Etac stocks (absolutely love this stock), and a lightened trigger. I use this for target and deer. Built up a load and when I do my part shoots hole in hole at 100. Attached picture is of my old man having a go.
Next up is my new Anschutz 1761 Silhouette. Again a pic of my old man using and loving it. Seems to like SK match especially a distance up to 100. (haven't tried it further). The old man said he was getting bored shooting thru the same hole at his usual 22lr range of 25 yards so took it out further.

I'm finding SK standard match shoots really well out of my Anschutz 1761.
Normally my go to round is Eley Club or Match, but the SK stuff is noticeably better. Especially at distance.
Good thing is that it is nowhere near the price of Eley match.
Fancy trying the SK long range next as it's meant to be great for longer shots obviously.

Colin,
It doesn't take much effort with the right grade to get the channel wider, you just need to seal the wood with something like danish oil or tru-oil when satisfied. I've used sockets of various diameter and just last week opened one up a bit with a used cylinder from a paslode gas gun, matched the barrel perfectly.
Yea were going to order the Boyds Pro Varmint stock and open it up.
Dad has a milling machine in the garage so we will just use a 20mm ballnose cutter and then finish using the sandpaper.
The old man has stock oil there that we will use once finished to size.

Colin,
it's not a big deal to open the channel up with sandpaper and the right sized dowel.
Think maybe a bit much to remove?
It states 0.86" to 0.68" tapered, so would need to open up the whole channel to around 0.95" to suit the MPR barrel.
Forget that. I'm pretty sure the stock could take a fair bit of removal after seeing the dimensions
-
No joy with Boyds stocks, they only use sporter barrel type barrel channels.
The barrel on the MPR measures 0.9" straight.
-
Ah ok didnt know that thanks

Looking for some help here for my father.
He has an Anschutz match 64 MPR and loves it and it shoots amazingly well.
The only thing he isn't happy with is the stock. So has been looking for a replacement.
So far the only thing he can see is a boyds stock that has the inlet to suit his rifle alas it doesn't seem to be available over here, looks to be the same issue with a MDT chassis that seems to be no longer making them to suit.
Maybe someone knows somewhere that can get these in, or does anyone know if there is anything else available to suit.
The rifle is used for target use only.
Thanks all

Had a play with 1 on my mates rifle a couple of weeks back.
Was so impressed I'm ordering 1 for myself.

Im with Baldie on this 1. I can't stand that guy and the way he goes about things.
To say he lets his imagination run wild in his reviews is an undertatement.
