  1. Hi all

I also use kg products carbon remover first after a range day and often get to the stage of clean patches . Paranoia kicks in then I run a  bore brush as per manual for 25 passes through from chamber to muzzle only then take off the rod then repeat . The amount of crap that really comes out is amazing then the copper blue comes out too . Also tried the way of it’s shooting great today so don’t clean and shoot next weekend- ‘‘twas all over the target so stopped doing that !!! . On the 308 clean and brush every time . On the rimfire s clean when accuracy falls off  only . Cheers

  2. Think they did a modified fortmeir type , Phoenix tactical moved to USA and spud 1967 does them now . Try GRS bipod this has a few more modifications ie 45 degree position and flip over feet for a gripping side or smooth side . Very happy with my fortmeir as it totally improved my group’s after using Harris and the accuracy international own model .

  3. If your keen on watches and diving stay away from battery types , in the days of using us navy or bsac tables  I had a cold water dive and the avia watch stopped so no idea how long at depth so abandoned the dive and do a few long safety stops with buddy to make sure all ok . Changed  to a seiko mechanical watch and it’s still going 34 years later never serviced . Not a great time keeper but very reliable . Rolex from 1986 has been serviced regular and dived regular 1500+ dives and is everyday wear .A few battle scars but still great bit of gear . Cheers

  4. Good info from woodlander regarding calibre . My 308 is easy to reload and shoot gongs to 700 m and a bit further but 1000 m is very tricky with a high trajectory so a small misread on distance make a miss more likely , 6.5 s are much flatter shooting and will reach further easier than 308 . That said with StrelokPro properly calibrated, first shot on one litre milk jugs at 700 m are normal . Sorry we are off the main post but still happy with my gear but would have made a different decision if I’d had more info at the time regarding flat easer to shoot bullets . Moved from hawke to a Pm2 as funds allowed its great to use but not as much difference at ranges upto 300 its after that where clarity really does show up . Buy the best you can afford . Cheers

  5. +1 for a hawke sidewinder. Got a couple of 6-24x56 . All ok on full bore rifles , very clear and have a good range of reticles , I use the sr pro Xmas tree type and calibrate the points with chair gun or StrelokPro . Focus is also very crisp for the money . Hawke also do first focal scopes and you could upgrade your scopes and put the hawke on air rifles or rimfire in the future . Enjoy .

     Cheers Rich

  6. Hi there Jimmy

think you’ll be very happy with a set  , I got the top of the range ones based on the fact the algorithm/ programs have hunter and range settings . They also don’t get in the way of cheekrest. Lots of colours to choose from but thought camo  might be a problem if I dropped one near the car  . Happy hearing and shooting . Cheers Rich

  7. Hi Matt

post should of said HAVE an anschutz as still got it . Night vision going back on it soon now the nights are drawing in . Great on rabbit s and close range fox . Ballistic tip ammo seems the best as the game points pass straight through . Winchester ammo has a much thicker case neck so won’t split as easy . Stick with the better quality ammo and you won’t have any problem. Enjoy your choice both will work well , hmr will be a flatter curve due to a lighter bullet  .

  8. Hi all

had the 3m ear protector s for at the range but found them very bulky , used them for 5 years and was happy . Finally took the plunge after seeing the PLUGZZ website At a local business park so popped in for a chat socially distanced etc and got measured/moulds made for the CENS system . I now have mega comfy low profile hearing protection which lets me hear the wind and my noisy feet bird twitters etc  then when the bang goes off it’s super quiet . BRILLIANT. Only downside is you don’t always hear the thump of the bullet on the quarry . Wish I’d done this years ago as now suffer from tinnitus/ industrial deafness  . Hearing has no price against it so don’t scrimp on protection . Cheers Rich

  9. Hi there

very happy with 2 ase dual rimfire mods as are easily taken apart to clean and have a low profile . Although heavy they balance the short barrels nicely .

centre fire wise it’s an AI ally mod very good at moderating the 308 and very light it doesn’t change point of impact.

Quality of materials and well cut threads are what I’d be looking for and if alloy is used a stainless first baffle or bush would be good but this then mixes metals causing galvanic action if not kept dry . A lightweight all stainless take apart mod would be ideal . Also spanner flats on the thread bush in case it gets stuck .

     Cheers

  10. Just a thought

have you tried leaving the scope as originally and adding an i phone adapter to the eye piece , from video s on YouTube this could bring the image nicely in line for your left eye . Elevation and wind age would stay as normal and not a 45 degree vector .

     Cheers Rich

  11. Hi all

just a note to be careful of , minimum ranging distance ! . Use my old style Leica 10x42 for airgun shooting at short distances all ok for close ranging to match the sr pro hawke reticle as the laser is in the centre of the bridge , Swarovski s don’t laser below 30 metres as one tube has a laser and the other has the detector . The newer leicas go to 3200 m . Utting’s did a good deal years back . Stronger lasers will range more accurately and to further distances .

    cheers Rich

  12. Hi Andrew

thanks for the reply and the info  . Magazine size is a problem also factory ammo only . Other options were the steyr pro varmint or a custom stock Remington 700 stainless or tikka , joe west or grs stock . Not wanting anything too heavy .
    cheers Rich

  13. Hi there

much nicer to have a 1:10 twist than my 1:12 . I now have lots of bergers to play with and some Amax’s in 155 grain for the shorter range stuff these go very well with 42.5 to 43 grains of N135  at @ 2.234 cbto  for the club 300m shoots . Stuck at home but the gardens looking great . Stay safe
