  1. I've bought a box of their 127g copper bullets to load test in .264.

Considering they are promoted as long range bullets I have to say, the quality of construction is appallingly bad.  The blue ballistic tips are not seated properly and when you look down from above at the loaded rounds in the ammo box, you cannot but notice, nice shiny copper crescents where the BT has been seated off centre, some quite markedly so.

Has anyone else noticed this?  I know Barnes has been sold to Sierra but I'm surprised at the poor quality of these bullets.

  2. An interesting thread, and please, if I'm hijacking just say so, as I am looking at the potential for a new club too.  I'm currently a member of Bisley but my "shooting card" expired sometime ago pre covid and needs renewing before I can shoot.  I'm predominantly a deer man and shot at Bisley just to zero really.  Before I throw the towel in with Bisley whats out there?  within 90mins of Bath

  3. Years ago, possibly more than 15 I visited a range owned by a chap called Clarke [I could be wrong] it was north of hereford and he was going to open a really longrange range but got into a bit of a kafuffle with the council.

Anyone know the name of it and is it still open?

  5. I've been looking at either;

    1.  Re-barreling my M595

    Or

    2.  Buying a completely new rifle.

Without going into the cost breakdown here, I'm looking at the buying the above mentioned rifle in 7mm 08 but.....

On the site I looked at, the same rifle in "Blue" clearly states the stock is fully adjustable whereas in "stainless" [also, the only one available in 7mm 08] there is no mention of the stock being adjustable.

Does anyone know if the Tikka T3X CTR Stainless comes in a fully adjustable stock please?

Something a departed member @braddersonce mentioned stuck with me.

The moulded plugs are a great idea, but when you put your head on the stock for a good cheek weld it puts undue pressure through the ear and the ear canal isn’t in the same position the mould was taken.

Having owned and worn a couple of pairs, I can confirm this is true, hence I don't own a pair now

The Remmy action will normally look like it's cratering the primers (mine does even on light loads).

Also soft primers have a tendency to appear to flow (I found Winchester always flatten but not flow).

Vhit site shows the upper end as being above 27 Grn, so you still have enough space to allow for temperature variation.

    Any signs heavy bolt lift?

No but I am starting to see the bolt face leaving marks on the head at 26g,  Didn't notice at first until I had a real close look. I've bought a tub of N133 so will experiment with that shortly work permitting.

  8. Surprisingly, to me at least, my Rem 700 1 in 12 twist .223 shoots 60g VMax very well.

I've used Vit N140 at the 26grain mark as a trial load but I'm flattening and cratering the primers a smidgen too much for my preference.

Anyone else got a good load or powder they can recommend for this bullet wt please?
