I've never kept chickens but a mate once told me his source of "problems" was cheap feed. I cant remember the exact details but I think the mites came from cheap feed. Of course I could be wrong......

The trouble with garages are they have quite extreme temperature fluctuations through out the year therefore probably not the best place to store your food.

Good pure honey can be stored indefinitely from bee keepers such as me. The shop bought c r ap dunno, won't give it shelf time.

Anyone have any joy last summer with this? I was thinking of giving it a go next summer? so need to start thinking about getting traps made etc.

This is very confusing. Would you mind listing your reference that says no licence needed please?
-
My reading on it is that there's a loophole; the law only describes 'trapping' (apparently the licence for that is a no cost bureaucratic hurdle); it doesn't describe the 'string and bacon' approach. Trapping without licence = offence. Nothing else is described. No trap; no offence. Anyway, think I'll be ringing up for a licence!
Trust you!!
You are technically right but.... I would have a robust alternative defence and catching crabs wouldn't wash in a freshwater river.
I don't think doing it with string and bacon would free you from the need for a fishing licence and being stupid is not a defence. i.e. I was catchin crabs Mr EVA man so it isn't fishing although I Agree it LOOKS like I am fishing with this string in the water.
Happy days!!

As far as I know it is not only legal but probably encouraged as they are not native to this country, a small wire cage with some bits of fish in it hung in still water from a suitable tree works very nicely, hang a few traps out and call back in the morning.
See here Davy:

I think you need a fishing licence also

I've never really tried them, I thought you needed a licence to trap them or is it simply the case I have been missing out again?

Survival shopping list
in Food
Posted
The scene: Disaster just happened.
Set plan into action, make way home. Pass a supermarket seize opportunity to increase survival stores & emergency supplies.
Thinking: I'm not going to ponce about brand searching doing the usual b* llocks you do when doing the weekly shop.
Objective is to get in, get whats needed, get out.
What should I be including in my shopping list of food items E.g. Flour, rice, pasta etc not the crap we usually pile in the trolley, what are the essentials I should target??
