  1. It’s going to be used as a long-range varminting gun, that’s why am going with the 180gr ELD Ms. What powder, speeds, barrel length is people using with the heavier 7mm bullets? Cheers.
  2. Hi all. Would like to hear from people that’s using the Hornady 180gr ELD M in there .284! What powder, speeds, barrel length yous all using?? Having a new 28” .284 barrel with a 1:7.5 twist fitted and throated for the 180s. Was looking to use one of the cooler burning powders RS62 or N165 if its possible to get around the 2800 fps mark without using some of the hotter double based powder. Cheers.
  3. Went through all this myself a year ago. I used isapon, made a cast out of polystyrene put it on the gunstock, some cling filim on the stock first put the cast on and filled it to the top and halfway down my shooting side an just an inch down the backside. Then took it out and sanded it to the hight and shape I wanted. Great job when finished and it is a snug if to the stock. Bit of spray paint and few screws and your dune. I'll sent in a picture later if anybody wants. Used if for a year and saved for a GRS stock, very very good I must say.
  4. thats what i thought, yes just the normal plex reticle and in 2nd focal plane. this is my first dialing scope so looking forward to it. havnt had a chance to look through one tho, so hope it will work nicely on little bunnys at 500 yards or so. the reticle should be fine anof for that and a bit of long range target shooting. if anybody has a looking throu the scope veiw of that plex redicle would be nice. thanks.
  5. great post. just started shooting long-range varmints myself. have a factory howa 1500 in 223 with a very cheap scope. can hit rabbits at 350 yards or so but after that to much guessing and the reticle in the scope is to big, the dot in the middle of the scope is like a football at 350 yards lol. getting a new scope zeiss conquest hd5 5-25x50 and a leica 1600b rangefinder, that should get me out another hundered yards or so.
