Vermincinerator
Why non expanding ? You are not allowed to use expanding ammunition at Bisley Ian.
AHPP
As I understand it you are not allowed to use expanding ammunition in some competitions but using it more informally is fine.
Alycidon
Well boys I went, wore my nice new UKV Tee shirt (thanks Ian) and did not get accosted, so I guess none of you went. They are a small decent bunch of chaps who really went out of their way to make us feel VERY welcome, all of them shoot varmints at distance using everything from 17AH to 338LM. It is a three hour drive each way for me but I will certainly be going back and would highly recommend it to other members here, you shoot what you bring, there is no sniffyness about using sporting rifles to shoot BR and you can borrow any gear you do not have. Hearing protection is vital though. Cost is £20 per person and meetings are usually held on the second Sunday of the month at Bisley. A
AndyCM
I was there - short Siberia on target 10 (100 yards prone, at the end of the benches). Originally booked on 200 yards - but there was a mcqueens competition (green wooden castle thingy) so I think we got bumped ! Did 600 yards in the afternoon. Next time I'll look for a UKV tshirt ! Great day for it, glad you had fun. Maybe next time we can compare bullet tips. Cheers AndyCM
Alycidon
Ah I came late with my daughter, took half an hour driving round Bisley to find the range, so you were one of the lads on the top four benches. That was some telescope one of your blokes had !!, something that big could count the wings on a fly at 100 yards !!. Did I see one of your guys guy shooting an old 303 SMLE?, not seen one of them in action for maybe 20 years. I was on bench one at the other end !! I am planning to have another go in Oct (2nd Sunday) but my daughter is away on a sailing ship with the air cadets so I will be on my own. I shoot a wood laminated stocked 20BR fox basher!!. It gave some the the BR boys specialist kit a bit of a run for their money. They seemed to want me back anyway, perhaps my natural charm !!. foxing2night
All i can say is that Vince runs some of the best comps that i have ever been to,,, If you are short of any piece of kit, there is always someone who will help,, To those who do not know??? The diggle lads shoot. 100 600 1000 yrd comps,, Then there is the egg shoot and the fly shoot,,, Myself and a few others off here have been going for the last few years,,, All the best, Darrel

Cheers Vince f Thanks for the info Vince, Diggle is a similar distance north or me but I have occasionally threatened to appear there, my calibers (6PPC + 20BR) would be a bit out gunned at 600 yards especially with the legendary winds you have up there. But its the crack thats the main thing for me these days. Built my 20BR based on your lovelly laquered laminated D&B stock on your Dasher. Does anyone shoot 200yard BR ?. Gun Pimp
Alycidon, They used to shoot 200 yds at Bisley but they don't have any 200 yd comps listed. Our 600 yard winter BR series starts at the end of October (see www.ukbra.co.uk for calendar). The 20BR could be interesting at 600 yds - no one thought that Laurie Holland's 223 would be competitive at 1000 yards, let alone shoot a four inch group! Alycidon
Hi Vince, Thats tempting !!. Might come for a bang and the crack, mind you my Berger 50gr bullets might finish up in the next county with the Diggle winds!!. I cant do Saturdays though, that is the busyest day in my stove showroom, can't do Dec 26 either, could you please advise 2011 dates or get them posted on the UKBRA web site. Thanks As far as I am aware they only shoot BR at 100 yards at Bisley, the 200 yard firing point on the Short Sibera range does not have benches on it.
