Spitzer
Morning gents, merry christmas to all. I am considering a 25-06 and the the rifle comes with a 24" barrel as standard, I am planning to fit a jet Z mod so the plan is to shorten the barrel to 20" to keep the overall length down. Roughly how much will the loss of 4" affect the velocity of say a 90 grn and a 120 grn at near maximum load.
Ronin
You may lose 200fps from this alteration. A 24inch barrel is 2 inch short of optimum anyway, IMHO (I run 26" on mine) The addition of the moderator will cure the muzzle flash and unburnt powder that will result in the chop. If you are getting circa 3300 fps with your loads now - which if youre running full house, I cannot see any real detrimental effects to your shooting.
