bruxie hill Posted December 17, 2009 Report Share Posted December 17, 2009 hi i have a remmy 22-250 vssf at the moment witch is about shot out and i kind of fancy having 1 do all rifle instead of 2 from long range varmint and target shooting to stalking red on the hill i have thought about the 6.5 x47 as i believe it runs on the 308 bolt face have been told that 6br is not red legal is scotland want something a bit differant from 243 dont want to have to fireform so then what would you guys do if it was your own hard earned all the best bruxie ps my other rifle is a 25-06 Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

However (there's always a but isn't there) Youre limited to 130g bullets with the 47, fine if your reds are close in but if they are a bit distant, then you may want to consider a 6.5mm that will handle heavier bullets, such as a 6.5x284 and 260 / 260AI The one issue you have is your donor is a short action, so you will be restricted with seating depth should you opt for a 284 varient. Other "do alls" stepping up calibres is 7mm-08 and 308 Win. The 47 is fine for reds with the right bullet and its a damn accurate calibre for target shooting. Forgot to add that I also have a 25-06 and that is a wonderful red calibre and great for foxes too..... Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
