W5 Silicone Oil from lidls.

in a yellow can and at £0.99 a can i found it a great help in full sizing,

just stand the cases in the loading tray, a quick spray and job done. all full sized with no aggro at all.

I HAVE READ A LOT OF THINGS ABOUT USING IT ON RIFLES AND SHOTGUNS,

but i use a small amount when full sizing. is this dangerous or not ??

thank you

Hi Bob. I've used silicone oil (not from Lidl's) but I sprayed some on a cloth and rubbed the cases in it before sizing. It seemed to work. To be honest though, I tend to stick to the sizing lubricant made by LEE.

I do no think that I would use silicon oil on my brass. It CREATES wear on metal to metal contact. I used to use it on my airgun stocks and on the blueing and it really used to bring it up well. I took care in not getting near any metal to metal contact but is was difficult so I stopped using it.

I have used NEATSFOOT oil for 40 years with no problems, I wipe the round with tissue upon completion.

My lube-pad is made from a few layers of `cavalry twill` trouser material laid on an ice-cream box lid with another lid to keep it clean between sessions.

I got the product from a local saddler as its primary use is the protection of leather.

Centre top shelf of loading bench next to the vernier gauge.
