ejg223
Managed to get out yesterday eve, at last a dry day. After missing a crow at 200yds i saw a fox cross the over into the valley. Was only 108 yds, he fell half into a rabbit hole. I didn't retrieve him, so pic through the scope with mobile, one can just about make him out. I'm very impressed with those 52gr a-maxes in the 223, through the scope i could make out a messy exit hole. Later we came across another two but no shot. edi

craigyboy
nice going there ejg223, what are the foxes like in your parts? I have a few farms up here at the minute that I am tripping over the buggers on. What rifle are you using?
ejg223
nice going there ejg223, what are the foxes like in your parts? I have a few farms up here at the minute that I am tripping over the buggers on. What rifle are you using? Hi Craig, we'd be a bit overrun by foxes here. Mostly the foxes get shot here with shotguns and rimmfire. Those club members that did a lot of fox control are getting older and packing up. In this valley my best was 5 foxes in one eve, not lamping, just out with my daughter for a stroll. My daughter is just seven but has great eyes, often she just mentions "why don't you shoot that one?" I think I'm just about to change my rifle. I have a CZ223 with the 25.5" semi heavy barrel. From the action forward the stock is layed up in very good carbon fibre, wet in wet with the bedding job. Outside wood inside carbon. The rifle is now as good as it gets, groups 7mm even with factory ammo. So it's time to get something new. Maybe a bit more oomph. Scope is the S&B 4-16x50 Varmint reticule. Nigel, get that bloody truck fixed. Here you'd get an old car for free, some of them wouldn't even have a speck of rust on them. Was my second fox this week. I try to get 1 or two a week, outside of deer and pheasant season. edi
