Service rifle help/recommendation

I was thinking of putting in a variation in for a service rifle. I have been looking at a Mauser–Vergueiro/Portuguese Mauser in 6.5×58mm.

Dose anybody know anything about this rifle or can recommend something different. I will hopefully be loading my own ammo.

I would suggest that you also research into availability of mil-surp ammunition to feed the rifle. I’m not 100% sure, but I don’t think there’s all that much 6.5x58 available, so really you’ll need to reload for it I should think.

Something in .303, 8mm Mauser, .30-06, 6.5x55 SWEDE or 7.5x55 GP11 will be more available in either mil-surp and factory loadings...plus easy to reload for.

I think that will be an expensive and awkward calibre to source components for. If you search Gunboards, you should find lots of information on it and other Mauser related questions.
