atlanticity
It puzzles me when people suggest that this bullet is not optimum for the above cartridge ive worked up a load that uses n150 and delivers 2950 fps from a 30 inch barrel at 5 celsius at this temp there is primer cratering and flattend primer but no stiff bolt lift.Is this velocity easily surpassed with other powders or can the 123 grain scenars be sent faster to overcome their reduced bc values.Look forward to hearing your comments regards jonathan
Andrew
There are no free lunches. Generally speaking, a lighter bullet driven faster, slows down faster.~Andrew
gbal
260rem SAAMI data so directly comparable,24"barrel ;drop/drift inches at 10 mph wind;200y zero: Nosler 125g Partition BC .450 @2875 fps 300y 7.4/6.7 1449 ft lb 500y 43.4/20.5 1037 ft lb nosler 140g Partition BC .490 @2800fps 300y 7.7/6.4 1594ft lb 500y 44.5/19 1173 ft lb Atlanticity, any criterion for "optimum/better" isn't going to find much between these, except for energy for large deer. 6.5 x 47 can't change the relative data much, other than maybe reduce the energy advantage of the 140g a little (it's a smaller case-a little). gbal
