tackb
I have a remmy 700 in a PSE e-tac stock that I've just had modded to run AW mags(and AICS ) , the barrel is heavier than I originally intended but that's another story and it's 20'' , I have a harris on it plus a hardy mod and for the hill I use a bi Athlon sling , I haven't weighed it but it's highly manageable with enough heft to remain stable for repeated 'culling' work this suits me but I'm a 19 stone 6'4'' lump don't underestimate the effect your fitness will have on your shooting especially in hilly country, yes we are all getting older but that isn't an excuse to just give up ! for my money I doubt you'll get an AI style rifle down to a weight you find acceptable , horses for courses , I hill stalked with a macmillan stocked 308 that is a heavy old lump for years , that's why I had the 260 (shot out) which is now a creedmoor built on a PSE stock and lighter components. and bradders is right , more humour needed we have all done a lot better than some making it into 2017 , be grateful for what you have!
