Leeman
I'm looking at getting the pistol grip on a walnut rifle stock checkered. Does anyone have any recommendations for gunsmiths/stockers in the North West/West Yorkshire for this type of work? Thanks, Richard.
EMcC
Not in any of the areas you mentioned but Jimmy Wills of Bath is a dab hand at chequering. I had a forend made for one of my rifles and when I went to pick it up it wasn't chequered and when I frowned he spotted my frown and said "oh, did you want it chequered?" and did it there and then, absolute fantastic craftsman to watch at work. He gave me some oil to put on it and told me to bring it back after the winter season and he would, and did, re-run it to sink it further. It shouldn't be too difficult to post a stock if you are really pushed. Just noticed Calne isn't very far from Bath.
mikeroz
"Just noticed Calne isn't very far from Bath." That'll be Calne in Wiltshire near Chippenham, not Colne in Lancashire. Anyway good tip on Jimmy, I didn't know about him and he's not too far from me. Always useful to know about guys like him. Cheers Mike
