Re-barreling Thompson Contender rifles

I'm thinking about buying a Thompson Contender rifle. One of the reasons is to be able to change barrels of different calibres. The question is, how difficult (i.e. expensive) would it be for a gunsmith to make a barrel to fit if the desired calibre isn't readily available from Thompson?

Armalon can do this but the only economic way is to get a barrel in from the states in the calibre you want. There are several suppliers who produce a barrel in nearly any calibre you can think of. There is a chap in Norflok planning to get some in.
