Roebuck
I am thinking rebarrel a sako A3 in 25-06. What experience have you with this caliber varmint and stalking ? 22" barrel is enough ? Thanks for answer
casts_by_fly
22" makes for a nice deer rifle in the 25-06. It is a bit much on the recoil side to be shooting a lot of varmints, but it does buck wind well. For deer (at least north american white tails) it is a great little gun. thanks, rick
nuttyspaniel
I love my 25-06 to bits. It has a 22" barrel and shoots 120grn bullets no probs. If you moderate it that should take the recoil away thats if your sensitive to recoil. IMPO a cracking calibre you will shoot rabbits up to reds with it. Ronin
I didnt see the original post, but looks like you have had a nice job done there. Ive run a 25-06 for 7 or so years, this is my principle deer rifle, it has accounted for roe and red all have dropped without problem. Personally (had I seen the original thread) I would say 22inches is too short, your buring 53 or so grains of powder - my own pereferance is 25 / 26 inches of tube. 100g Speer Hot Core work well as do 117g Hornady Interlocks. Hot core for Roe, Interlocks for Red. Both around 3200fps...
