22lrman
Hi all just went to screw on my new Hardy gen V mod on a 308 remmy 700, I thought they had an integral (partial) muzzle brake? There does not seem to be any way for the gas to exit from internally, via the 3 machined muzzle ports at the front? Have they changed from gen 4 or am I missing something? Also the plastic bush that caps the barrel end of the mod, does not slip over the barrel (varmint heavy barrel), and has to be removed adding risk of scratching the barrel during fitment with the exposed thread of where the bush was. Was this supposed to be machined to the diameter of the barrel as part of the supply? I bought it with a barreled action. It's M18x1 threaded if it makes a difference. Any guidance appreciated before I call the supplier. thanks all.
MrCetrizine
Regarding the bushing, you have to machine them yourself or get someone to do it. It's the same on every mod I've bought. They are supplied for the smallest barrel of whichever calibre the mod is for. I used a step drill bit on mine.
rem700
No the gen 5 has no muzzle brakeAnd the machined ports are for ascetic purposes onlyIn theorie it should be quieter than the gen
22lrman
Thanks both, nice to know the ports were not missed in manufacture or something. Had visions of hitting the target with the mod instead of the bullet! Bush - makes sense now - I'll machine the bush myself to save hassle back and forth.
