longbow3
I was reloading some 140 VLD bergers for my 284 tonight I have them set just 4 thous off the lands when I try to eject the unfired round the bullet touchs the breach and cant eject, I had to release/remove the bolt slightly to get enough room to release the round a very fiddly operation any advice would be gratefully received ray
MrCetrizine
Are you sure they didn't jam into the lands and slightly pull the bullet on extraction? If not then the only solution I can think of is to seat deeper or fire them.
1066
I have a Savage F12 in 6.5x284. If I load 108 gn Bergers out to the lands they are too long to unload. The only way is release the bolt and pull it back a bit.
gun nut
This is not peculiar to your load or the 6.5x284, I've seen it on a few rifles/calibers. The conclusion I came to, rightly or not, is that the ejection port is designed to eject empty shells , not loaded ones, hence the lack of clearance. Mike Yes, I've never considered it a problem, I'm happy with a more rigid receiver and minor occasional inconvenience.
