Grouse
Looking at doing my own brass annealing, appears to be different types of "heads" for the propane bottles. Which type should I use or doesn't it matter? Cheers Grouse
achosenman
It depends how you intend to anneal I guess. I use a Benchsource that uses two 1/2 inch Bernz O Matic heads. Fantastic machine that takes only a few minutes to run through 100 cases. If your are not using a machine you need a fine burner. You don't want flame on the shoulder area. Grouse
DIY in a shell holder/socket, yes I was thinking a fine flame but not sure on the name to ask for? Is it a pencil flame burner?
Grouse
just googled it too, does most people use a bernzo matic canister or propane? Any difference?
achosenman
I use Propane canisters from my local plumbing merchants.Yes a pencil flame is what you want. About .5 inch is perfect. Lots of heat quickly, but accurately applied.FWIW a vast amount of info on YT is wrong. You don't want cherry red or anything close.Atb
Grouse
Thanks for the info, I was kindly shown by Baldie how much heat to apply, it wasn't cherry red! Thanks for the info
